KL Monorail Fleet Expansion Project

Station Extension (2011)
KL Monorail System is upgrading its fleet replacing the existing 12 set 2-car train that has been on service for the last 10 successful years to a brand-new 12 set of 4-car train. This requires an extension to all its 11 stations across Kuala Lumpur city.

 

The existing 40m length stations is extended to accommodate its new 45 meter 4-car train.   The additional 12 meter extension is  arranged as a complete independent component.  The structure consist of V-shaped steel box with twin crossheads supporting a space truss to create a complete platform floors above.

The aluminum composite panel cladding is wrapping around structural space truss thus creating a shining metal solid box.

 

The station also  undergoing  major ‘face-lifting’ exercise whereby all its eleven station PVDF coating membrane are replaced with standing seam metal decking roof with heat insulation.  It brings down the heat as compared to the previous membrane roofing that allow some heat to penetrates through it while radiate with natural lights.
